CentOS 4 Release Notes

Introduction

     * CentOS 4 offers both yum and up2date to do updates of the operating
       system. You can use either or both of these to manage your updates.

Note
       Prior to using yum, you must import the RPM-GPG-KEY for CentOS-4 like
       this

       rpm --import /usr/share/doc/centos-release-4/RPM-GPG-KEY

   The following files are changed from the upstream RPMS. All changes are
   trademark and look/feel related unless otherwise noted under the specific
   RPM.
     * anaconda-10.1.1.19-1.centos4.i386.rpm 
       Path of the Distribution changed from RedHat to CentOS on the install CDs.

     * anaconda-help-10.1.0-1.centos4.noarch.rpm

     * anaconda-product-4.0-2.centos4.noarch.rpm

     * anaconda-runtime-10.1.1.19-1.centos4.i386.rpm

     * createrepo-0.4.2-1.noarch.rpm Added for use with yum.

     * centos-release-4-1.2.i386.rpm

       File name changed from redhat-release in the upstream product.

     * centos-yumconf-4-4.2.noarch.rpm 

       This is the configuration file for yum.

     * dhclient-3.0.1-12_EL.centos4.i386.rpm

     * dhcp-3.0.1-12_EL.centos4.i386.rpm 

       This file had to be compiled on an older  version of gcc than ships with 
       CentOS-4 and was modified to accomplish this. See bug#861 at bugs.centos.org

     * dhcp-devel-3.0.1-12_EL.centos4.i386.rpm

     * firefox-1.0.4-1.4.1.centos4.i386.rpm 

       In addition to numerous shortcut
       changes, added the CACert.org certificate as a trusted Certificate
       Authority. See CentOS.org for details.

     * firstboot-1.3.39-2.centos4.noarch.rpm

     * glade2-2.6.0-1.centos4.i386.rpm 

       Corrected a race condition. See bug#855 at bugs.centos.org.

       Modified to not use the RHN and to instead use the CentOS Mirror Network.

     * up2date-gnome-4.4.5.6-2.centos4.2.i386.rpm

     * yum-2.2.1-1.centos4.noarch.rpm

       Added as the primary package installer for CentOS-4.
